Train bus collision in Beruwala

A train rammed into a bus at Rockland junction in Beruwala late this evening injuring at least 23 people.
Acting police media spokesman SSP Priyashantha Jayakody said that the accident had taken place at an unprotected level crossing.
He said that the bus was heading back to Kandy with a group of people after a function when the accident took place.
The train was heading to Galle from Colombo when it crashed into the bus at the level crossing.
The police said that four of those injured were in serious condition and were transferred to the ICU.
SSP Jayakody said that the injured people were admitted to the Nagoda hospital for treatment. (Colombo Gazette)
