Heat continues as Sun is over Lanka

The hot weather will continue this week as the sun moves in a northward direction over Sri Lanka.
The Department of Meteorology said that the nearest towns in Sri Lanka where the sun will be directly overhead tomorrow (08th), are Kochchikade, Kegalle, Gurudeniya, Namal oya and Palamunai about 12:13 PM.
The sun is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka between the 05th and 15th of April this year.
The Department of Meteorology said that showers or thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, North-central and Uva provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or evening tomorrow (Monday).
A few showers can also be expected in the South-western coastal areas, it said adding that there may be temporary localized fairly strong winds during thundershowers. (Colombo Gazette)

The Elections Commission announced that 35 candidates have been approved to contest the Presidential election on 16 November. Objection made against two candidates rejected

The National Elections Commission today rejected objections placed against the nomination of two candidates. National Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said that the objections had been made within the stipulated time today. Deshapriya said that after considering the objections the National Elections Commission had decided that the objections were not valid so the objections were dismissed.
