Minor staff of the Colombo national hospital who were on strike over the transfer of an employee, have been sacked after they left work today without permission.
The Health Ministry said that the staff were deemed to have vacated their posts as they had left without obtaining prior permission.
According to the Health Ministry, the minor staff had raised objections to the transfer of the employee to the Ragama hospital.
He had been transferred following investigations over an offence committed two years ago, the Health Ministry said.
The hospital had yesterday sought the assistance of the civil defence force as the strike had affected normal day to day activities. (Colombo Gazette)
