No breakthrough in Faraz’s shooting

The police say they have not yet made a firm breakthrough into the shooting incident involving The Sunday Leader journalist Faraz Shauketaly.
Police spokesman SP Budhika Siriwardena said that investigations into the February 16 shooting incident were still continuing but the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) had not arrested any suspects as yet.
Faraz Shauketaly was shot at by a group of unidentified men in his house at hotel road in Mount Lavinia.
Shauketaly received bullet injuries in his neck and was rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital and was later transferred to the National hospital for treatment.
The gun-shot wounds were however not life threatening. Eyewitnesses said they saw three men running away from his room following the shooting incident.
On February 23rd the police released sketches of two suspects wanted in connection with the shooting incident.
The police said that the sketches were drawn by an artist of the CID based on the information provided by the journalist. (Colombo Gazette)
