President Mahinda Rajapaksa has warned of attempts both locally and internationally to scuttle the peace in Sri Lanka.
Speaking at a Sri Lanka Freedom Party ceremony at Temple Trees today, the President said that people in the north and south are living together following the end of the war with the defeat of the LTTE.
The President said that it is the right of all Sri Lankans to ensure that the peace is protected without falling prey to rumors.
He recalled that during the war there was a lot of pressure exerted by some countries on the Sri Lankan government.
However, he said the government stood firm in achieving its objectives and protected the interest of its people in the process.
The President said that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the government as a whole is ready to make any sacrifice for its people. (Colombo Gazette)
