Four million doses of Sinopharm vaccine arrive in Sri Lanka

A consignment of four million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine arrived in Sri Lanka today. The Chinese Embassy in Colombo said that a chartered flight of SriLankan Airlines brought the consignment to Sri Lanka from Beijing. This is the single largest consignment of vaccines brought to Sri Lanka. The vaccines were purchased by the Sri Lankan Government from the Chinese manufacturer. The wife of Vedda chief Uru Warige Wannila Aththo passed away after contracting the coronavirus. She and several others in the community in Dambana had been found to be infected with the coronavirus.
