The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) is to conduct tests on imported milk powder for dicyanamide, CAA Chairman Rumy Marzook said.
He said that there have been complaints of the chemical being found in some imported milk products.
As a result of the complaints received the CAA will conduct tests on all imported milk powder.
In September 2012, traces of dicyandiamide were found in milk produced in a New Zealand company. The Kiwi Government moved quickly to reassure the public and overseas buyers there was no risk to the health. (Colombo Gazette)
