Two boys abducted, assaulted and freed

Two young boys were abducted in Puttalam last night and were later freed after being assaulted.
According to the police the two brothers, aged 17 and 18, were abducted by a group travelling in a jeep.
The father of the two children had lodged a complaint with the police over the abduction.
Some two hours after the abduction the two boys were dropped off on the road in Puttalam.
The police said that both boys had been severely assaulted before being set free.
Initial investigations revealed that a love affair involving one of the boys was the cause for the abduction and assault.
There is also suspicion that the vehicle used in the abduction belonged to a politician in the area.
The Puttalam police are conducting investigations. (Colombo Gazette)

One hour power cut for next 3 days

A one hour power cut will be enforced for the next 3 days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday), the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said. The power cut will be enforced from between 6pm to 9pm. There were no power cuts over the weekend as there was sufficient water in the hydroelectricity catchment areas. (Colombo Gazette)
