One killed, 8 injured in accident

One person was killed and eight others injured following an accident in Hanwella today.
The police media unit said that a passenger bus and a van travelling in opposite directions met with the accident in Hanwella.
The bus was travelling from Awissawella to Colombo when it crashed into the van travelling on the opposite side of the road.
Nine people who were in the van sustained injuries and were admitted to hospital for treatment.
The police media unit said that the driver of the van succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Among those injured are 6 women and two men and they are all residents of Amapara.
The bus driver was arrested following the accident. (Colombo Gazette)
