The Sri Lanka Cricket board has decided to warn fast bowler Lasith Malinga over his behavior when dealing with the media in future.
A Cricket Board statement said that the Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Cricket Ajit Jayasekera conducted an inquiry on the Lasith Malinga incident and in his report to the Executive Committee, recommended that Malinga be censured and advised on his behavior when dealing with the press in future considering his standing in the game.
The Executive Committee accepted his recommendations and appointed Camillus Abeygunawardena (Retired DIG and Ex Co Member), Harigupta Rihanadeera (Attorney at Law and Ex Co Member) and Ajit Jayasekera (CEO, SLC) to speak to Lasith Malinga on this matter.
The Sri Lanka Cricket board had decided to investigate fast bowler Lasith Malinga over his conduct when he was approached by the local media at the cricket board headquarters recently.
Malinga had scolded the journalists when he was asked if he can speak a few words on the contract issue with the cricket board.
Malinga was recently appointed as the vice captain of the Twenty 20 national cricket team.
His attitude towards the local media drew the criticism of the media who questioned if such behavior is acceptable by a national cricketer. (Colombo Gazette)
