Thilanga to contest for President at SLC

Former Sri Lanka Cricket Board President Thilanga Sumathipala is expected to contest for the post of President of the cricket board at the board elections next month, sources told the Colombo Gazette.
Sumathipala had submitted his nominations for the post at the last elections but later withdrew his candidacy which paved the way for current President Upali Dharmadasa to be appointed.
However it is now understood that Dharmadasa will not seek a fresh term for the post and Dharmadasa is expected to submit his nomination papers next week.
Elections to appoint new office bearers to the Cricket Board will be held next month, Sri Lanka Cricket announced last week.
Sri Lanka Cricket said that the Annual General Meeting is scheduled to take place on the 30th of March.
“This is in line with the Gazette notification issued by the Ministry of Sports related to the new regulations of the Sports Law,” the Cricket board said.
The final date for nominations will be the 28th of February. (Colombo Gazette)
