Atmospheric disturbance still over Sri Lanka

An atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the department of?meteorology?said today.
The department said that this will result in cloudy skies and showers or thundershowers at times in most parts of the island.
Heavy falls (about 100mm) are also expected at some places in the Eastern, Central, Uva and Southern provinces.
There may be temporary localized fairly strong winds during showers.
The department of?meteorology?advised the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.
In an advice to fishermen, the department said that that there will be showers or thundershowers at times in the sea areas off Western, Southern, South-eastern and Eastern coasts.
Winds will be from North-easterly direction and speed will be 20 – 40 km/hr. The speed may increase up to 50 – 60 km/hr at times in the Gulf of Mannar sea area and in the sea areas off the Western, Southern, South-eastern and Eastern coast.
The Gulf of Mannar sea area and sea areas off the Western, Southern, South-eastern and Eastern coast will be rough at times. (Colombo Gazette)
