Fake cops steal Rs. 10 million

A group of men who had posed as policemen have stolen Rs. 10 million from a businessman in Salve Island this afternoon, the police said.
The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has launched investigations into the incident.
According to the police, two men had withdrawn the cash from Sampath bank at Slave Island and were heading towards Nawam Mawatha ?when the car was stopped by men in uniform similar to that worn by the traffic police.
At this point another group of men had arrived in a jeep and abducted the two men and stole the car with the cash.
The two men were set free in the Kotte area but the car and cash were stolen. (Colombo Gazette)

Army security for CEB staff

Employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) who returned to work today despite protests being staged by others, have been given army security, the Power and Energy Ministry said.
