Three arrested in Kuruwita over theft

The police arrested three people in Kuruwita today over the theft of a golden color?Buddhist statue, the police media unit said.
According to the police media unit, the three people were arrested on suspicion by a police street patrol unit near a Temple in the area.
The police said that when the suspects were arrested the police found the statue inside a jeep.
The police also found military style uniforms in the vehicle .
Investigations had later?revealed?that the statue was of historic value and had been stolen from a Temple yesterday.
Further investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)
