The Sri Lankan women’s cricket team beat hosts India by 138 runs to enter the super six stage of the ICC women’s cricket world cup in India.
Batting first Sri Lanka scored 282/5 in 50 overs assisted by half centuries by four players.
Yasoda Mendis and Deepika Rasangika added 117 runs for the second wicket after Goswami struck early to dismiss opener Chamari Atapattu.
Skipper Shashikala Siriwardene and Eshani Kaushalya also scored half-centuries.
Senior bowlers Goswami and Gauhar Sultana failed to deliver with the ball in the all-important clash as they gave away 135 runs in their combined 20 overs.
In reply the Indian managed just 144 runs in 42.2 overs. India have now been eliminated from the 2013 world cup.
