Government says CHOGM not shifted

The government says there is no truth to reports that the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) has been shifted out of Sri Lanka.

Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Karunatillake Amunugama said that such claims were baseless and are mere rumors.

There were reports to the effect that CHOGM 2013 which is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in November had been shifted to Mauritius following concerns of a breakdown in democracy in Sri Lanka.

However Amunugama said that so far the decision to hold the summit in Sri Lanka has not changed. (Colombo Gazette)
