Weliweriya: The battle for water

These photographs taken by journalist Dharisha Bastians shows the aftermath of the violence which broke out at Weliweriya last night over contaminated water. Residents in the area alleged that the army had attacked them but the army says they shot in the air in retaliation as self defence when the villagers attacked the troops.

The Derana organized the annual ?inter advertising agency six a side soft ball cricket tournament? ?CRICADS 2015? was won by triad Advertising ( Pvt ) Ltd beating Media factory in the finals. The tournament was held at the Bloomfield Cricket grounds Colombo. Media Factory batting first scored 62 all out in their allotted 5 overs.
