Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka has sought to join hands with former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake.
Fonseka’s media unit quoted him as saying that Bandaranayake has faced the same fate he did at the hands of the government.
“I was forced to take to politics due to wrong decisions of the government. Former CJ Dr. Shirani Banadaranayake has also faced the same fate. I am ready to join hands with her to fight to protect democracy for the sake of the people and the country,” he said.
Fonseka noted that the country has deteriorated in every sector and everyone hopes for an alternative.
“In my political career I do not want to keep company with thugs, drug addicts or to be a dictator. Some people say I am not fit for politics without such desires. I am ready to join hands with anyone who values democracy and peace in the country,” Fonseka’s media unit quoted him as saying. (Colombo Gazette)
