Government determined to remove CJ

The government is determined to remove Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake, government MP Thilanga Sumathipala said today.

Speaking at an event in Malabe the MP said that the Chief Justice must be replaced at the earliest.

He accused her of working with the backing of pro-LTTE elements against the government.

Sumathipala said that with some allegations against the Chief Justice being investigated and subsequently found to be true, the government had every right to seek her removal.
