DMC revises death toll

The Disaster Management Center (DMC) revised the death toll from the extreme weather from 43 to 39 today.

When the Colombo Gazette contacted a spokesman at the DMC he said that the death toll had been revised after it was found that 4 people from the initial figure of 43 had not died from a weather related incident.

The DMC had reported last night that the death toll from the heavy rain, floods and landslides was 43 with 7 missing.

Meanwhile most of the people displaced from the bad weather had also been resettled with just 2935 people still in evacuation centers.
