Secretary of Defence and Urban Development Gotabaya Rajapaksa says the public will need to face temporary inconveniences as a result of essential development work being carried out in Colombo.
Speaking at the launch of the website of the Colombo Municipal Council today, the Defence Secretary said that Colombo is being made into a green people friendly world class city.
He also said that some 10,000 housing units are being built to house the people living in slums and shanties in the city.
He also stressed on the need for maintaining law and order and also the need to eradicate the scourge of drug menace from the city.
Rajapaksa said that with the assistance of the World Bank the government together with the CMC has carried out a large number of projects to uplift the social and economic standards of the people of Colombo.
