Indian fishermen handed over to Indian High Commission

The 27 Indian fishermen arrested for poaching in Sri Lankan waters have been handed over to the Indian high Commission, the police media unit said today.

The police said that the Indians were handed over after been given bail by the Trincomalee Magistrate yesterday.

Each fishermen was freed on a bail of Rs. 100,000 each.

Naval craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command apprehended the 27 Indian fishermen with four Indian fishing trawlers while they were poaching in ?Sri Lankan waters East of Mullaithivu on Sunday.

They were brought to the Trincomalee Harbour and handed over to the Police for legal action.

Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) owner Arjun Aloysius and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kasun Palisena were today ordered to be further remanded until August 30 by the Colombo Fort Magistrate in the bond scam case.
