Wellampitiya death toll rises

The death toll in the Wellampitiya accident last night has risen to four, the police media unit said this morning.

A van heading towards Kaduwela collided with a bus and a lorry while attempting to overtake another vehicle resulting in the fatalities.

The driver of the van and three others including two women were killed in the accident, the police media unit said.

The police said that nine people who were injured in the accident are receiving treatment at the Colombo national hospital.

Of those injured are two children. The driver of the bus and lorry have been arrested.

Coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka rises to 118

The coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka rose to 118 today. The Government said that two more deaths were reported in Sri Lanka today. The latest victims are from Galaha and Atulugama. One victim is a 72-year-old man from Galaha. He died on admission to the Peradeniya hospital. The second victim is an 81-year-old woman from Atulugama. She had died at her residence.
