Seven Jaffna students freed

The police have released seven students arrested in Jaffna recently following the LTEE ‘heroes day’ anniversary event at the Jaffna university, reports from Jaffna said today.

Meanwhile the Jaffna media claimed that four students who had been detained with the seven students at the Vavuniya prison, have been?transferred?to Welikanda.

The 7 students who were released were handed over to the family members in the presence of university and student union officials.

The students were arrested under the?prevention of terrorist act after they were involved in demonstrations against police action on students who took part in the LTTE?’heroes day’ anniversary late last month.
