UNP warns will “hit back” at convention

The United National Party (UNP) warned that it will “hit back” at any attempt to disrupt the party convention tomorrow.

UNP MP John Amaratunga said that there were reports of attempts by some groups to disrupt the convention tomorrow.

The UNP is expected to announce some radical changes during the convention at Sirikotha.

Amaratunga told the Colombo Gazette that no one will be allowed to disrupt the convention from outside or inside.

There is strong opposition to the current UNP administration with calls for UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to step down. (Colombo Gazette)
