Second reading of 2019 Budget passed

The second reading of the 2019 Budget was passed in Parliament by a majority of 43 votes today. When the vote was taken, 119 Parliamentarians voted for and 76 against it. The United National Front (UNF), Tamil National Alliance (TNA) and the Ceylon Workers? Congress (CWC) voted in support of the second reading of the Budget. TNA makes push for political solution within an undivided country

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) today questioned the delay by the political leadership to agree on a political solution. TNA leader R. Sampanthan told Parliament that had there been an agreement on a political solution the war could have been avoided. He said that the TNA remains committed to a political solution within an undivided country. Sampanthan said that despite the end of the war in May 2009, the cause of the conflict has not yet been addressed. (Colombo Gazette)
