Private bus strike in some areas over route permits

A private bus strike was launched in parts of the Western Province today over a route permit issue.
President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association (LPBOA) Gemunu Wijeyratne said that that the strike will affect the southern part of the Western Province.
?This is not related to an earlier decision to strike in the entire Western Province. That has been called off. This is a new strike over a route permit issue in the southern part of the province,? Wijeyratne told the Colombo Gazette.
Among the bus routes affected is the 138 route and connected routes.
Private bus?operators in the entire Western Province were to go on strike today but subsequently called off the strike after discussions with the?relevant?authorities.
