Fishermen death toll rises to 40

The death toll from the storm has risen to 40 fishermen dead and several still missing, the Disaster Management Center said this afternoon. DMC spokesman Sarath Lal said that the bodies of the 40 fishermen have been recovered and search and rescue operations are underway to locate those missing. Over 100 houses have also been reported as being fully damaged by the storm, the DMC said. Death toll rises, search continues

The death toll from the stormy weather conditions has risen to 27 with 29 others still missing at sea, the Disaster Management Center (DMC) said this evening. The DMC said that 35 people were injured and 772 people affected by the two days of strong winds and heavy rain. Over 100 houses have also been reported as being fully damaged by the storm, the DMC said.
