Special bench to hear case against impeachment

A specially convened bench is to hear the case against the impeachment on Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake this afternoon.

The bench comprises the President of the Court of Appeal Justice Sri Skanda and Justices Anil Gunaratne and W.A Salaam.

A petition had been filed against the motion to impeach the Chief Justice.

The Chief Justice is to appear before a Parliament Select Committee on Friday to give evidence on the charges mentioned in the motion to impeach her.
