Private bus operators today said that they are against the 13th?Amendment?to the?constitution as well as the 18th Amendment?and want both abolished.

Lanka Private Bus Operators Association (LPBOA) President Gemunu Wijeyratne said that private bus operators are even ready to launch a bus strike against the two constitutional amendments.

Addressing a press briefing today?Wijeyratne said private bus operators will support any political group which stands against both?amendments.

He also said that the 17th Amendment must be further?strengthened.

Cabinet Ministers will not draw salaries for a year

Cabinet Ministers have decided not to draw salaries for a period of one year. Minister Bandula Gunawardena told reporters today that Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had proposed that Cabinet Ministers not draw a salary for one year owing to the economic crisis. Gunawardena said the Cabinet agreed to the proposal put forward by the Prime Minister. He said that a Cabinet Minister draws around Rs. 65,000 as a monthly salary. MP?s son and wife arrested

The son of opposition Member of Parliament Dilip Wedaarachchi and his wife have been arrested. They were arrested for allegedly obstructing Police officers from carrying out their duties at an interchange of the Southern Expressway.
