Two Sri Lankans in the United Kingdom (UK) have died after contracting the coronavirus. One person had been reported dead earlier yesterday while the second person had died later. The Ministry of Foreign Relations said that they were still awaiting details on the deaths. (Colombo Gazette)

Navy officer opens fire in Navy Base killing sailor

A Navy officer opened fire inside a Navy Base killing a sailor and injuring two others. The shooting incident had taken place inside the Mohottuwarama Navy Base in Kalpitiya. A petty officer attached to the base had opened fire for unknown reasons. One sailor was killed in the incident while two others sustained injuries. The injures sailors were admitted to Hospital for treatment. An investigation has been launched. (Colombo Gazette)

Suspect linked to Easter Sunday attack in Batti arrested

A key suspect who had assisted in organizing the terrorist attack on the Zion Church in Batticaloa on Easter Sunday in April 2019, was arrested today. The Police Media Spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne told the Media during a special press conference this evening that the suspect had provided transport for the suicide bomber who had carried out the attack on the church. The suspect, who has been identified as a resident of Mount Lavinia, was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)
