Another eight Tamil detainees released on bail

Another eight Tamil detainees arrested under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) were released on bail today. The detainees were released on Rs. 1 million surety bails and ordered to appear before the Terrorist Investigations Division (TID) every other week. Last week twenty-four Tamil detainees who granted bail left the Welikada?prison after bail was posted to them. Over 37,000 affected by flash floods

Incessant rains have resulted in flash floods in many parts of Sri Lanka especially in the northern province affecting over 37,000 people, the Sri Lanka Red Cross Society said.
