Boat used in Tangalle mid-sea attack siezed

The boat used in the mid-sea attack on a fishing boat off Tangalle late on Sunday was seized this afternoon and the boat owner was also arrested.

According to the police media unit, the boat was?seized?in Tangalle by a police team deployed to investigate the incident.

The police said that the small boat had been used by a 10 member gang to board the multi-day fishing boat on Sunday.

They had later attacked five fishermen, killing 3 and injuring 2 others.

The bodies of the 3 fishermen who were killed and thrown overboard have not yet been been recovered.

The Matara police are conducting further investigations.

Suspect arrested after attempting to rape Philippine woman in Malabe

A suspect has been arrested after attempting to rape a Philippine woman in Malabe, the Police said. The Police said that the woman had been in her house in Malabe when the suspect had entered the premises last evening and attempted to rape her.
