The police said that the 42 people, including children and two monks, who were hospitalised following a wasp attack in Ratnapura last evening are not in a serious condition.
Police media spokesman SSP Priyashantha Jayakody said that the injured people are receiving treatment at the Ratnapura hospital.
He also said that investigations revealed the wasps had been disturbed by a boy who had thrown a stone at a hive.
The people had gone to the Ratnapura ‘Pothgal’ Budhist Temple on a visit when the wasp attack took place.
The police said that 27 children, 6 teachers, 7 parents and two monks were injured in the attack.
