BASL adopts resolution on threat to judiciary

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) today adopted a resolution on the threats faced by the?judiciary.

During a meeting held today the BASL resolution called for the?protection?of the independence of the judiciary.

It also condemned the attack on the Secretary of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC) Manjula Tillakaratne.

BASL President Wijeydasa Rajapaksa said that the BASL had also urged the police to arrest those responsible for the attack on the JSC secretary within a month.

Foreign Ministry denies claims Sri Lanka’s envoy to UK resigned

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today denied claims that Sri Lanka?s High Commissioner to the UK, Mrs Amari Wijewardene had resigned. Sri Lanka continues to fare poorly in global corruption rankings

Sri Lanka has failed to show significant improvement in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2017, released by Transparency International, the global?movement?against corruption.
