Moves to rescue stranded visitors

The Department of wildlife said that an operation had been launched to rescue a group of visitors stranded inside the Minneriya National Park.

Around 24 visitors including some foreigners were?stranded?after heavy rain submerged the access routes to where the?visitors?were ?this evening.

Wildlife officers and the security forces were involved in trying to reach the visitors to bring them to safety.

Passenger from Sri Lanka infected with Covid in Tamil Nadu

A passenger from Sri Lanka has tested positive for Covid after arriving in Tamil Nadu. IANS reported that two passengers, one from Singapore and the other from Sri Lanka tested positive on arrival from international destinations. This came following a random Covid test being done at the Chennai International Airport. The Tamil Nadu health department is on a high vigil after the number of fresh Covid cases in the state showed an increase. The state on Wednesday reported 112 fresh Covid-19 cases
