Jaffna police probe oil attack on Attygalle

The Jaffna police have launched investigations into the waste-oil attack on Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) activist Dimuthu Attygalle yesterday, the police said today.

Attygalle was attacked with the oil just as she stepped down from her van near the Jaffna Nallur Hindu Temple.

The Jaffna based Uthayan newspaper quoted Attygalle as saying that her van was initially followed by men on a motorbike.

Later the waste-oil mixed with cow dung was thrown at her and the van near the heavily populated Hindu Temple.

She had lodged a complaint with the Jaffna police over the incident.

Attygalle said she was in Jaffna to attend a function.

HRC probe on Weliweriya

The Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission has launched an investigation into the Weliweriya incident, Human Rights Commission Commissioner Dr. Prathiba Mahanamahewa said.
