Police warn post match revelers

The police have warned revelers not to disturb the peace or violate road rules following the Twenty 20 world cup final today.

A special operation will also be launched by the police to nab drunk drivers following the match between Sri Lanka and the West Indies, the police media unit said.

The police media unit also said that drivers should not block any street following or during the match while celebrating.

Meanwhile a special traffic plan will be in place around the Kettarama stadium for the final and only vehicles with passes will only be allowed in the vicinity.

Spectators entering the cricket stadium will also undergo strict security checks and will not be permitted to bring glass bottles with water. (Colombo Gazette)

Police arrest over 1500 people for violating curfew

The Police have arrested over 1700 people for violating a Police curfew over the weekend. The Police said that 1,754 people were arrested between 6.00 p.m. on Friday to 06.00 a.m. today (23) for violating the curfew. The Police also said that 447 vehicles including motorcycles and three-wheelers were seized. (Colombo Gazette)

Over 150 vehicles seized during curfew

Over 150 vehicles have been seized for violating a Police curfew imposed around the country. The Police said that 156 vehicles including motorcycles and three-wheelers were seized by the Police since Friday. The Police had also arrested 790 individuals for violating the strict Police curfew. The curfew had been imposed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country. (Colombo Gazette)
