The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) has decided to back the United People’s Alliance (UPFA) to form the administration in the East.
SLMC leader Rauf Hakeem said that the Eastern Province Governor had been informed of the SLMC decision.
He said that the decision was taken in light of the government efforts to develop the province.
UPFA General Secretary Susil Premajayantha said that the SLMC and UPFA met yesterday and discussed forming the government in the eastern province.
He said that the talks were “successful” but did not divulge what the deal was.
