Six soldiers were killed when a mound of earth slipped and fell on them at the Diyatalawa army camp today.
Army spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said that the soldiers were engaged in construction work when the earth slip occurred and buried the soldiers.
Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya told the Colombo Gazette that eight soldiers got buried in the sand and six had been killed.
He said that the other two are not serious. An investigation into the incident is underway.
