CID to file report in court

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is to file a report in Court on Monday regarding statements made to the media by the secretary of the Lanka Teacher Services Union Mahinda Jayasinghe.

According to the police media unit Jayasinghe has made statements to the media regarding the alleged leak of the Grade 5 scholarship examination question papers.

The CID had been tasked to investigate some of the allegations following a request by the Education Ministry.

However the police say Jayasinghe had failed to appear before the CID to make a statement regarding his allegations despite repeated requests.

Jayasinghe had been asked to appear before the CID on four occasions, the police media unit claimed.

As a result the CID will file a report in court on Monday and seek court intervention to order Jayasinghe to appear before CID and make a statement.

Over 100 in Jaffna admitted to hospital after food poisoning
