Six claymore mines found

The Vavuniya police Terrorist investigations Division (TID) found six claymore mines during search and clear operations in?Varikuttur, Vavuniya.

The police said that one claymore mine weighing about 2 kgs, one claymore mine weighing about 5 kgs, three claymore mines weighing about 8 kgs and one claymore mine weighing about 11 kgs were found.

Meanwhile the army said that?during search and clear operations conducted yesterday in Mulliyan, Varikuttur and Periyavilayankaddu one 60 mm mortar bomb, one 81 mm mortar bomb, eight hand grenades, 750 rounds of 9.19×9 mm ammunition, 400 rounds of T-56 ammunition, 146 detonators and one anti personnel mine were also found.

Demining groups had meanwhile recovered one anti personnel mine from Kadapachikulam on the same day.
