The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has been tasked with carrying out a probe into alleged fraud which had taken place during the Year 5 scholarship examination, police spokesman Ajith Roahan said.
The Commissioner General of Examinations W.M.N.J Pushpakumara had requested IGP N.K. illangakoon to investigate the alleged fraud.
He had complained of reports that the question papers were leaked before the exam which was held yesterday.
According to reports the questions papers were leaked in Yakkala and various other locations around the country.
The Commissioner General of Examinations had written to the IGP over this and the IGP has instructed the CID to carry out investigations, the police spokesman said.
