Abduction gang arrested

The police have arrested an abduction gang in Colombo which has been involved in holding people for ransom.

According to the police media unit the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) arrested the gang after a complaint was lodged with the police.

Following the complaint over an abduction of an individual the CCD had launched investigations and subsequently arrested a four member gang.

The gang includes suspects from Kalutara, Kaduganawa and Grandpass, the police media unit added.

The CCD is conducting further investigations.

Japanese funded Colombo light rail transit project to resume

The Japanese funded Colombo Light Rail Transit (LRT) project, which was suspended by the Gotabaya Rajapaksa administration, is to resume. Cabinet spokesperson Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that President Ranil Wickremesinghe obtained Cabinet approval for the project to resume.
