MR solved India?s problem says Swamy

India?s Janatha Party President Subramaniam Swamy has said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa not only solved the problems faced by his country but also that faced by India by defeating terrorism.

President?s spokesman Bandula Jayasekera quoted Swamy as telling the President at a meeting yesterday that by defeating terrorism he had achieved the greatest victory of the 21^st century.

He said that President Rajapaksa should be decorated and be given the highest award by the Indian government.

Subramaniam Swamy is in Sri Lanka to attend the three day defence seminar in Colombo which ends today.

Actor Ryan Van Rooyen further remanded

Actor Ryan Van Rooyen, who was arrested in Dubai and deported to Sri Lanka, was today ordered to be further remanded until May 9. Van Rooyen was detained at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) on April 4th and handed over to the Weligama Police the next day. The Police then produced him before a Magistrate and the Magistrate ordered that he be remanded. Court approves conducting DNA tests on remains of bombers

The Fort Magistrate today approved a request from the Police to conduct DNA tests on at least two of the suicide bombers killed during the Easter Sunday attacks. According to the Police, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) had sought court approval to conduct DNA tests on two of the bombers who triggered explosives at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel and Kingsbury Hotel.
