India today cautioned Sri Lanka on the demining in the north saying the authorities should make sure all the mines are removed and that nothing is missed in an attempt to meet a deadline.
Major General G. S Shergill of the Indian army who is in Sri Lanka to attend the defence seminar, told the delegates in his speech today that it was good to see that most of the demining work was complete.
However he had a word of caution and urged the authorities to make sure the work is complete before people are resettled in those areas.
He said that in attempting to meet a deadline the authorities should not leave any mines behind which in turn could see civilians lose a limb.
He also touched on the assistance India was providing the people in the north following the war including the construction of houses for the war displaced.
