The government has approved a visit to Sri Lanka by a delegation from the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, reports said today.
Accordingly the delegation is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka next month to offer technical advice on implementing the resolution on Sri Lanka adopted by the UN Human Rights Council in March.
The External Affairs Ministry has written to the office headed by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillai informing her that the visit can take place next month.
Earlier the government had concerns over such a visit as it did not approve of obtaining technical advice from the UN office.
The government has already told Pillai they even she can visit Sri Lanka and see for herself the post war developments in the country.
