Kahawatte turns killing fields

Kahawatte turned into a killing field today with the discovery of the charred bodies of another woman and her daughter.

The police media unit said that the burnt bodies of a 63 year old woman and her 32 year old daughter were found in the house early this morning.

Initially the police received information that a house in the area had caught fire and when the police went to investigate they found the two burnt bodies inside.

The police have begun investigating the incident as a crime and not an accident.

Earlier this year another woman and her young daughter were found murdered in Kahawatte, sending shock waves in the area.

After several weeks of investigations three suspects, including a woman, were taken into custody over the incident.

However in May this year the charred bodies of two women were found in a house at Kahawatte.

According to the police the two bodies were burned beyond recognition and the house was also burned.

A 58 year old woman and a 51 year old woman were residents of the house.

Nine women have been murdered in Kahawatte from July 2008 to January 2012. This includes two in 2008, two in 2010 and three in 2011.
