Indian arrested with several visas

An Indian national has been arrested at the Bandaranaika International Airport (BIA) with several foreign travel documents including visas, the police media unit said.

The police said that the 42 year old Indian Muslim man had arrived in Sri Lanka from Chennai last night onboard a Sri Lankan airlines flight.

He was arrested at the airport and checked by officers who later found several foreign travel documents in his possession.

Among the travel documents recovered were 16 Italian visas, 1 Australian visa and 3 Indian passports, the police media unit said.

The suspect is to be produced before a magistrate today. Further investigations are underway.
