Train bus collision in Beruwala

A train rammed into a bus at Rockland junction in Beruwala late this evening injuring at least 23 people. Acting police media spokesman SSP Priyashantha Jayakody said that the accident had taken place at an unprotected level crossing. He said that the bus was heading back to Kandy with a group of people after a function when the accident took place. Woman arrested for fraud

A woman was arrested in Badulla after she duped several people to the value of over R.s 2 Million, promising them jobs overseas. The police said that there were 26 complaints?against?the woman since the first police complaint was lodged against her earlier this month. Following the arrest, the police recovered several fake appointment letters and other documents. Mano Ganeshan attacked

Democratic People’s Front Leader Mano Ganeshan was attacked in the Badulla area today while he was taking part in a demonstration. Ganeshan said that some goons threw stones towards him while he was supporting a demonstration staged by estate workers. He accused the Ceylon Workers Congress of instigating the attack on him and demanded an immediate police investigation. Ganeshan said that he suffered injuries to his arm from the attack and sought treatment in hospital. (Colombo Gazette)
